Ahhh, sweet, sweet September, with a hint of Autumn on the rise, which is a more than welcome relief after the weather tried to saute us alive this past Summer.
As we turn our attention to Fall we shall NOT mourn the end of Summer, NAY but celebrate the harvest season in high spirits. (Speaking of “high spirits”, kudos to Bob Gustafson and Bill Danola who valiantly orchestrated our first Scotch-tasting event last month! Not only was the tasting and food pairing divine, the speaker just happened to be one of the 10 most desirable bachelors in Scotland!) But I digress…
When the Autumn weather turns the leaves to flame we turn our attention to the upcoming Fall Wine Festival (catchy name eh?). On Saturday September 12 from 5:00PM – 8:00PM our Clubhouse will be transformed into a wine bizarre with HUNDREDS – that’s right HUNDREDS – of wines to taste and purchase (at incredibly low prices). For the low, low price of $50++ per person (which is technically cheaper than staying home…) all Association members and their guests can partake in a plethora of delicious hors d’oeuvres and deserts while they scout out the best and the brightest vintages to grace their wine rooms for the next few months. (Who am I kidding? No matter how much wine we all purchase it will be gone by Thanksgiving!)
And just as we are stocking up on all that brain-cell-robbing wine, we can take an intellectual U-turn and attend a FREE “GET SMART” lecture by the La Jolla Institute for allergy and Immunology entitled; “Life Without Disease: Unleashing the Power of the Immune System to Keep Us Healthy.” (For the record — I have been told by experts that wine imparts antioxidants that have miraculous curative powers.) The lecture will be given by Dr. Stephen Wilson who will describe the goals of immune research and how it is bringing forth interventions in health and medicine. And as he is speaking, of course appetizers and drinks (?) will be served. Again all Association members and their guests are more than welcome!
And as the days of 2015 dwindle down to a precious few, October 2 delivers a British invasion right on our own driving range with a tribute to The Beatles! Again, all Association members and their guests are invited for $55 (inclusive) per person for reserved seats OR $45 (inclusive) per person for lawn seating (first come/first serve – bring your own chair/blanket). A concert menu and a no-host bar (of course…) will be available!
So clearly there is no reason to be a member of the Lonely Heart’s Club band around these parts! Come spend these precious days with fellow Villagers! We have plenty of reasons to kick up our heels and raise a toast to our wine-laden health and happiness!
